• Clipboard content: text you copy while capture is enabled, including items organized as Recent, Pinned, and Templates.
• Clipboard metadata: source app, timestamp, and item status (pinned/template flags).
• Settings data: shortcut preferences, exclusion rules, retention preferences, and privacy options.
• Sync and backup data: iCloud sync records and JSON export/import files you create or restore.
• Support communications: details you share when contacting us, such as diagnostics, logs, and account context.
• Device and diagnostic data: limited technical information needed to troubleshoot support issues and maintain app reliability.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

• Service delivery: provide clipboard history, search, filters, templates, and related features.
• Account and settings management: maintain your preferences and app configuration.
• Communication: respond to support requests and send service-related notices.
• Security and abuse prevention: detect, prevent, and investigate misuse and technical issues.
• Service improvement: improve app reliability, performance, and usability.
• Legal compliance: satisfy applicable legal obligations and enforce our rights.

3. Third-Party Services

PasteClip may rely on third-party providers to deliver parts of the Service:

• Apple iCloud: if enabled by you, sync data is processed through your Apple account and governed by Apple’s terms and privacy practices.
• App distribution and payments: purchases/subscriptions may be processed through Apple App Store systems where applicable.

Third-party providers process data under their own privacy terms. Please review those policies separately.

4. Data Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect personal information, including:

• Encryption in transit where applicable.
• Access controls and least-privilege principles.
• Security monitoring, patching, and operational controls.

No system is perfectly secure. You acknowledge that all use of software and network services involves some level of risk.

5. No Sale of Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as of the effective date listed above.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may disclose personal information only in limited situations:

• Service providers that help us operate, secure, and support PasteClip.
• Legal requirements such as court orders, legal process, or lawful government requests.
• Business transfers, such as merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale.
• Protection of rights, safety, and security of users, us, and the public.

7. Data Retention

Clipboard history retention is designed to be limited (one week by default). You can delete individual items, clear history, and pause capture using in-app controls.

We retain support, transactional, and compliance records only for as long as needed for business and legal purposes.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Access personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
• Receive a portable copy of your personal information.
• Restrict or object to certain processing activities.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents may have rights to know, delete, correct, and receive information about categories of personal information collected, disclosed, and retained. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

We do not sell personal information. To exercise California rights, contact support@pasteclip.app. We will verify and respond within timelines required by law.

10. European Privacy Rights (GDPR/UK GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, objection, and complaint to your local supervisory authority.

Legal bases may include contract, legitimate interests, consent, and legal obligation.

11. App Permissions and System Access

PasteClip requests only the system access necessary to provide clipboard history functionality on macOS. You can manage app permissions and access settings through macOS System Settings and PasteClip preferences.

12. Children’s Privacy

PasteClip is not directed to children under 13 (or a higher age threshold where required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support@pasteclip.app so we can review and delete data where appropriate.

13. International Data Transfers

Information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we apply safeguards intended to provide adequate protection for cross-border data transfers.

14. Local Storage and Sync

PasteClip primarily stores data locally on your Mac. Depending on your settings:

• Clipboard history is stored in app-managed local storage.
• Settings and preferences are stored locally for app behavior and personalization.
• If you enable iCloud sync, selected data is synchronized through your Apple account.

You can disable sync features and clear local data using PasteClip controls at any time.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If changes are material, we will provide notice as required by law and update the effective/last-updated dates above.
